Each summer the HCPSS presents a number of learning experiences and educational opportunities by offering a wide variety of programs and classes. Detailed course descriptions and registration information for these classes may be found on the following link http://www.hcpss.org/summer/
*Rising 9th graders may enroll in credit-bearing high school classes. These classes will appear on student's official high school transcripts; however, the grade will not be factored into their overall GPA.

7th - 9th, Journey Middle School Leadership for Girls Camp, 2016
Location: Washington College in Chestertown, MD
Program Dates: July 10-16, 2016
Eligibility: Eligible applicants are female residents of Howard County entering the 7th, 8th or 9th grade in Fall 2016.
Description: At this unique program, each student identifies her own leadership skills, strengths, and weaknesses in a supportive and fun environment, which fosters increased self-esteem and confidence. This program is tailored to meet the needs and experiences of girls in middle and high school. Graduates of Journey are equipped with leadership skills to enhance their schools and communities.
Journey program components include:
Cost and Scholarship Information: The cost of the workshop is $780, including a $100 deposit with the application. Financial assistance is available and the scholarship application will be available in January 1.
Support for this program has been provided by the Women’s Giving Circle, a fund of the Community Foundation of Howard County.

- Workshops on empowerment and motivation, communication, decision making skills, group dynamics, self-awareness, goal setting, and conflict resolution
- Small and large group projects for girls to apply and get feedback on their leadership and interpersonal skills
- One-on-one interactions between staff and girls to address specific areas of growth for the individual and identify an action plan for post-site implementation
- Recreational activities such as team building games and activities, including a Confidence Course

Dates: July 17 - July 23, 2016
Tuition: $780 if the application is received by March 31st, 2016; $880 between April 1st and May 15th. (Convenience fee of $30.00 will be added to payments made by credit or debit card. You can avoid that fee by mailing in a check or money order.)
Description: During the Middle School Experience in Leadership, students begin to develop their individual leadership skills and learn how to identify and take advantage of opportunities for leadership in their schools and communities. The experienced staff fosters a fun, safe and supportive environment in which middle school students become comfortable building their leadership talents. For students entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2016.
